As you may be aware, we post a daily challenge on our Facebook page to motivate you guys to keep active every day! We spoke to a couple of our members to hear how they have been getting on with our Daily Challenge and find out what they are up to whilst the gym is closed. We caught up with Katie Brassingon, who topped our January leaderboard with the whopping 53 points and Rae Elizabeth who consistently turns up and bagged herself 27 points! How did you find the January Challenge?
KB – The January challenge was perfect for me. I was looking for some motivation after Christmas but with all the gyms shut and classes online, it was hard. The daily challenge inspired me because I could do as much or as little as I wanted. I can fit it around my day and the only pressure is the pressure I put on myself. The challenges built up slowly, which is good because my fitness levels were at rock bottom, but as I saw myself improving and the points building, I got more and more motivated. Then when I realised I was joint top of the leaderboard, I didn’t want to slip down so my motivation grew even more. RE – Some parts of the January Challenge were tough, but there were some ideas and challenges that I never thought of doing before! What are you up to in lockdown? KB – In lockdown I am working from home, which is not a change for me because I always work from home, doing lots of walking and watching lots of TV! The daily challenge has also motivated me to try riding a bike, because I was getting left behind by some of the others who were doing long bike rides! My husband can’t believe I am riding a bike! My goal for February is to work up to a 10km cycle. RE – I’m still working from home but I’m also working on getting my first novel out there for people to read, while writing the sequel. It requires a lot of research so it keeps me busy. I’ve also been doing lots of walking and riding my bike too. I’m just doing what I can and not being too hard on myself. The gym classes help for something to focus on and I am always looking for new ideas to inspire me. What do you love most about the gym? KB – Whilst I’m not a member of the gym, I have had some PT sessions there with Paul in the past so I am familiar with it. My plan is to join when the gym reopens and get Paul to write me a programme so I can progress with my fitness levels further. RE – The support that you get if you are struggling or need more knowledge. Also, everyone is so nice and friendly. When the gym reopens I am looking forward to seeing the other members and getting my headspace back. As much as I try at home to go for walks, there is something about going to the gym and doing a workout that makes you feel great. Hopefully it can open again soon! We couldn’t agree more – we can’t wait for the gym to be open again soon! Thank you to everyone who is taking part in our Daily Challenges! Remember to keep an eye out on the Facebook page at 8am every morning for the February 28 Day Challenge! Who's going to get all those points in the February draw?
