We would like to introduce Spotlight Members. This is designed to give members the praise and recognition they deserve for getting involved, smashing their goals or being a supportive team member!
This month we want to congratulate someone with sheer determination and motivation who always gets involved in classes and on social media to let us know what she thinks!
Well done Rae Elizabeth!!!
We interviewed Rae to learn about her journey and so she could share her success to motivate other members!
So, Rae, how did you feel before you joined the Gym?
I was tired all the time, lacking in energy. I didn’t feel good about the way I looked, and I even got tired walking up the stairs, which I’m ashamed to admit! I was around 6 stone overweight, and the final straw came when I had to buy clothes in the biggest size I’ve ever been!
Why Ryfields Gym?
I love how it really does give you a sense of community. It’s small but it has a big heart. You walk in and people always say hi. I also love the classes that are available and how you feel comfortable enough to ask the instructors for help if you are struggling with a certain exercise or using equipment.
What's your diet and exercise routine?
So, I’ve been doing low carb for the past 5 months, taking time off here and there for cheat days or special occasions. Before lockdown, I went to the gym 3 times a week Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons, as I work from early morning. I really got into cycling whilst in lockdown so I could continue to keep fit, so now I cycle to the gym and back 3 times a week.
I’ve also joined the Bounce Mania class which is hard work but so much fun. I do Zumba once a week now too. I’ve also started going hiking with my cousin on a Saturday. I guess what I’ve learnt about myself is I enjoy being active and keeping busy; it’s helped me to lose 45lbs so far!
Finally, what's your next milestone?
Altogether I want to lose about 75-85 pounds, so I’ve got about another 40 pounds to go. This is the longest I’ve ever been committed as I usually give up and go back to my old ways, but I now have a new appreciation for my body and what it can do so I don’t ever want to go back to how I was.
I’m really looking forward to my next mini goal which should be in about 10lbs.
Well done Rae on your journey so far! We can’t wait to be celebrating your next achievement with you!
If, like Rae, you are fed up of being tired, lacking energy and not feeling great in your body, book in for a tour around the gym and you will feel the sense of family and support for yourself.
